Facebook Messenger’s new colorful look has some people irritated.
“Facebook is now wearing thin my last nerve with all things Zuck. A new update to the Android Messenger app globally set the theme for every conversation to purple-hued Love. As mushy & creative a romantic as I am, most of my conversations have more to do with business: and I have to change the theme back one conversation at a time.”
If it makes you feel any better, all of your business contacts have turned purple as well, so it’s not like you’re standing out. You probably noticed that the Messenger icon switched from standard blue to rainbow-hued at well.

The reason behind the switch is that Facebook is integrating Instagram and Facebook chat into one spot, the Messenger app. I’m sure that doesn’t make you feel any more business-like.

Folks who go to send a private message in Instagram are notified to switch update to the new Messenger.

Users can sync their profiles on both services if they choose. I don’t know if the purple color will stick around after the transition is complete.
One suggestion is to set up a Facebook business page and message from there. Business colors still default to the white and blue message bubbles.
