New Perpetual Office On The Way

Many had speculated that Microsoft would follow the lead of Adobe Creative Cloud and become subscription only for Office products. Currently, users have the choice between the Microsoft 365 subscription model or a perpetual license for one machine.

Microsoft has announced that there will be a new version of the single-purchase Microsoft Office suite available for Windows and Mac later this year.

Office 2021 for personal and small business will be supported for five years with the traditional “one-time purchase” model.  It’s expected to retail for around $200. It will ship in both 32 and 64 bit versions.

The company said it would announce some new features included in the program closer to the release date.
