Did you know The Getty had a Tumblr account? I didn’t! Now that I do though I’m happily following them.

I discovered The Getty’s Tumblr with this post on art under the microscope. The post investigates how tapestries were created with gilded threads in the 16th century. This is right up my alley and I can’t wait to share it with you!

When you arrive at the site, you’ll find images interspersed with slides of how the tapestries were created. All you have to do to navigate is scroll down the page.

From the post, I learned a lot about the warp and weft used in the creation of the tapestries from the Woven Gold: Tapestries of Louis XIV exhibit.
