Computer Science has certainly taken off! And it’s a skill that is very useful in our ever-changing technology-based world. This site functions on the premise that anyone can learn to code, a premise I wholeheartedly agree with.
When you arrive at the site, you can scroll down the page to learn more about the program, check out the featured content sections – Learn at Home, Students, Educators, and Get Invovled.
To get started, just click the on any of the topcs. which will whisk you away to the tutorials and lessons. I’d suggest starting with the Tutorials for Beginners and completing the Hour of Code.

The Hour of Code lets you build up coding skills in a way that doesn’t require a lot of typing. All you have to do is drag and drop the commands so that you’re learning how they string together. There are 20 lessons and difficulty builds as you go through them. Throughout the lesson, videos pop up to explain the next still you’ll be learning before you go off to practice it. You’ll learn to program basic movements, repeat loops, repeat until statements, and the if/else block which are at the heart of programming.
At any time while you’re dragging and dropping the code blocks you want to see the code you’re writing, just click the Show Code button on the right side of the page. You can also view it on the pop-up after you’ve successfully completed the task you’ve been asked to program.
After you’ve finished your Hour of Code, you can come back and learn 20 hours more and discover how to code, make your own apps, python, html, and more!
