Storage Sense Options

We’ve been learning about how to use a great feature of Windows 10 called Storage Sense. When you turn it on, Windows 10 will automatically delete certain files or move them to the cloud only.  Click here to read that article.

Once you turn Storage Sense on and decide how often to run it, you can select options for different types of files.

Your first option is to delete temporary files. You can choose to delete temporary files that aren’t being used by your apps.

You can also click the arrow under Delete files in my recycle bin to choose when to automatically empty it.  You can choose to never delete files or select date ranges between 1 and 60 days.

Next, you can choose when to clean out your Downloads folder.

Click the drop-down arrow to choose between Never, 1 day, 14 days, 30 days, and 60 days.

Your next option is to decide if you want to delete files that are stored both on your PC and in OneDrive.

Choose to never delete these files from your hard drive or to remove if they aren’t opened for a selected period of time. Choose between 1 day, 14 days, 30 days, or 60 days. Even if you remove them, they’ll be available as long as you are online.

If you’re low on space at the moment, you can go ahead and run Storage Sense by clicking on Clean Now.
