If you have an Android phone, Windows 10 allows you to use your Windows PC to send and receive texts, make calls, and instantly access photos taken on your phone. But first, you’ll have to go to the Google Play Store and download the Your Phone Companion app onto your phone. It’s free and easy to install. Just search for Your Phone Companion and tap the Install button.

Log in with your Microsoft account and give permission to link.

With your phone near your computer, type Your Phone into the search box on your computer and click on the result.

Follow the set-up instructions to get started.

When your phone is connected, you’ll see this icon at the top of your phone screen.

Once you’re connected, you’ll be able to receive and respond to texts while working on your PC. Navigate between features using the menu at the left.

Sending and receiving messages is easy.

For long conversations, I like it a whole lot better than using the phone.

To start a new message, just click the big + sign next to New message.

Type the name of your contact (your PC will read your phone contacts) or the number.

Then just start typing the message. The history of your conversation with the person will appear in the text box just like it does on your phone. You can add emojis or GIFs to your texts, just like on your phone.

Click the image icon to add pictures from your phone or your computer to your text. Just click the photos from your phone, or choose Browse this PC.

If you’ve updated to the latest version of Windows 10, you’ll also be able to make phone calls. I’ll show you how that works tomorrow.
what if you have an Iphone rather than an android … did I miss info about that?
Geraldine, the connect feature is only available for Android phones.
